Lately room 17 have been doing Rock Our Word and it is AWESOME!! We all have groups like: Design team, Graphics, W.O.W (Walk Our World) etc.
I'm in the Design team and it is a lot of fun because we got to to design the shoe! It was pretty hard to design it because we didn't all decide on the same thing but we finally decided.
Now it was time to get the best colours for the shoe. The colours we went with were blue, grey and black.
A few weeks ago we talked to people from Washington. We asked questions like: How is your shoe design coming along? What type of crocodiles do you have? That is the question that Daniel asked. If anyone is thinking of doing Rock Our World I reckon you should go for it!!

Hi my name is Daniel. In Rock our world I'm in the media team and it is AWSOME!!!!! Before I was even in the media team I wanted to be a WOW team member but Miss Davies put me in the media team. I'm really glad that Miss Davies put me in the Media team.
There are 9 different teams in Rock our world. There's the Design team, Colours team, Graphics team, WOW team, Change team, Story team, Presentation team and obviously the Media team.
In the Media team there is Alex, Michael and me. We secretly interveiwed all the different teams and took pictures. And Michael, Alex and me even learned something new. We learned that you can even take videos with digital camera's.

Dylan's Track

For Rock our world Hannah, Leija and myself had to design a walking track that was 1 kilometre long, so we could build up our kilometres to Walk Around the World. We got the clicker, that measured 1m and went outside. We started trying to make the track around the school without going in to the pods. But that got tricky when we were trying to remember the track.
So we had a chat with Miss Davies and came up with a track.
Then with the clicker we did the track and it turned out to be 500 metres long - so we have to go around the track twice to make 1 kilometre.
After that we had to design a recording sheet that world tell us how many killometers we had done each day.
I enjoyed doing this because I got to work with people I don't normally work with and it was creative and I like that!

Our class has been doing R.O.W [Rock Our World] and everyone in our class has a job for R.O.W, my job is the W.O.W [Walk Our World] team. The W.O.W team is Dylan, Leija and me, Hannah.
Our job is to organise the walking that our class does to help walk around the world, and to make the track that we walk.
We have made a chart that everyone has to record how many km's they have walked. Our aim is to get the whole school walking the track that we have made. The reason we are doing this is because we are trying to walk around the world! Its also good training for cross country.

On Friday the 12th of March room 17 communicated with D'wayne Edwards the leading designer for Nike, through the computer. We asked hundreds of questions, Miss Davies fingers tirelessly typing on the computer.
"It's NewZealand again", we would hear every 5 minutes .
D'wayne Edwards said New Zealand was on fire. We invited him down and he even considered coming here.
Through the time we got to chat with him he talked about when he was young and how he became a top shoe designer, as well as questions in between and facts about shoes he designed.
He talked to us about never giving up and when you focus your mind on doing something you will get there one day. He told us his 2b pencil took him around the world. His mother gave him a note that said "There is no limit to what you can do. Believe in what tomorrow will bring". He told us how when he was 11 he decided that his dream was going to be designing shoes.
He had lots of perseverance and that's how he reached his goal.
So if you have a life long dream that you want to follow, if you put your mind to it, you will get there soon.

Rock Our World:WOW

For Rock Our World we have been focusing on the theme "change" We have been making a product story about the making of a shoe, a t-shirt and other similar items to make.
Our Product story was about what theme (slogan) we will have, our story about what the theme means to us, an inspiration made up of 4 words that describes our theme with pictures and about the consumer which tells the customer what they'll want and find about the item. Everybody got in pairs and together the pairs all made one of the Product stories.

After one day of starting a product story, Miss Davies got everyone back on the mat and then Miss Davies got another Product Story sheet and then everyone told Miss Davies ideas for he theme which was "Change you attitude! - Make a Difference ", A Story about our theme which was made up of mixed ideas, an inspiration with pictures from ideas and then voting for 4 words and a consumer part about the customer also from mixed ideas.

We had also placed job application forms in a folder and also had job descriptions to tell us about what jobs we could apply for. Miss Davies talked to us about all the jobs and what we have to know and do to apply for the job. When we filled in the forms, Miss Davies made a little box to put the job applications in.
The jobs were Story team member, Design team member, "CHANGE" team member, WOW team member, Presentation team member, Media Team Member, Graphics team member and Colours team member.

We also have to walk as many kilometres as we can and equal to walking all the kilometres around the world which is over 40,000 kilometres and the WOW team have to make a track and encourage more kids to walk the track and have to figure out how to keep track of how many laps the kids have walked.

What I am looking forward to doing is talking to D'Wayne Edwards on Friday - He will be telling us how to design a shoe.
